Discipline is not essentially life-denying. Rightly used, it is essentially life-affirming. It is the direction, the focus, the concentration of all our energies upon the highest values of the full life. It is a matter of attainment and restraint, with the emphasis upon the attainment. To be rich, creative, full and free, life must know discipline.
Dreaming is an act of pure imagination, attesting in all men a creative power, which it were available in waking, would make every man a Dante or Shakespeare.
